Authority is not your title or your expertise. It is the impact your behaviour has on the system. It shapes what people say, what they withhold, what they challenge, what they take ownership of and ultimately how they perform, in the moment and over time.
Most leadership problems are authority problems. Not because leaders are doing it deliberately, but because the gap between intention and impact goes unexamined.
Authority Distortion:
Authority distorts under pressure in two directions — toward dominance or toward drift. Both suppress honesty, clarity and ownership in the team. Both feel justified from the inside.
